TAN Student at National Science Fair
Check out Elizabeth Warkentin's display now being streamed at the Canada Wide Science Fair taking place virtually from Ottawa. Elizabeth's project is titled "A Cheaper Prosthetic" and appears in the Health and Wellness section of the Project Board. In her description, Elizabeth writes:
"Prothstetics are artificial limbs that are specifically made for each person. Because of this, prothstetics are very expensive to get and maintain. They need to get replaced often because they don't grow with a person. My design allows the prothstetic to grow with a person. Different sections pull out, giving the impression the prothstetic is growing. I built a working digital prototype of a hand through 3D printing apps. I believe 3D printing and and making prothstetics able to grow with a person will decrease cost immensely."
We are so proud of you, Elizabeth, and hope that your dream of kids all over the world being able to access prosthetics will one day be realized.
