St. Patrick's Day: Mar 17, 2021
Irish eyes were smiling all over the school today as we participated in various "Happy Green Day" activities. Students searched the school for St. Patrick's Day tokens which could be redeemed for prizes. We also went from classroom to classroom with healthy green smoothies thanks to our President's Choice Children's Charity grant and help from volunteers who peeled, blended, and poured frothy green drinks throughout the morning. We even had a St. Patrick's Day Trivia Kahoot in the library at lunchtime. In keeping with the green theme, yesterday was the launch of our new food waste collection program run by TAN Green Team members. Check out some of the fun photos from March 17, 2021
Beach Day: Mar 1, 2021
Spring is just around the corner, but we gave it a head start by wearing shorts, t-shirts, flipflops, and other beach attire. Students also received a beachy-keen surprise when we interrupted classes to pass out ice cream treats for everyone.
Pink Shirt Day: Feb 24, 2021
Our school was in the pink today as our students pledged to not bully others or stand by when they see bullying occur. Many of our students wore uplifting messages on t-shirts and lockers were decorated with sticky notes to to promote kindness and compassion towards others.
Pink Shirt Day started in 2007 when two students two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a grade 10 boy was harassed and threatened for wearing pink. Since then, schools across the world observe Pink Shirt Day to support kind, caring and healthy relationships. At T.A. Norris, we want to our students to be known for their kindness and grace. We are #teamawesome and proud of it!#pinkshirtday
Team Spirit Day: Feb 11, 2021
Judging from all the blue and orange today, it's pretty safe to say the Edmonton Oilers have a strong fan base here at T.A. Norris. One exception is Mr. Chalifoux who is a die hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He forgot to dress up and was shamed into wearing an Oilers scarf all day.
Orange Shirt Day: Oct 30, 2020
Having Orange Shirt Day & our Terry Fox Run on the same day was a great experience! Our students learned the background and reasons why we honour residential school survivors on Orange Shirt Day, while also lhearing about Terry Fox's story and why he ran. Enjoy some of the pictures from this great day! #OrangeShirtDay #TerryFoxSchoolRun #TeamAwesome
